Sadness
Sadness you are a funny friend.
You appear at the strangest time
And sadness you are the very end
Of sniffling and teardrops and cries.
Sadness, I had hoped I lost you today
But sadness sticks like glue to your clothes
And sadness is like a game that is played
Between the back of your head and your nose.
I've opened my eyes and begin to see
The beginnings of sadness are beginning in me.
Sadness comes and sadness goes.
I have lost another friend it seems.
She rode the train to her brownstone home
And next to her are my protected dreams.
How can so many songs about one girl
Just leave her to cry to herself.
So for us both I call her sadness
For fitting there is nothing else.
