Sleepless Midvale Nights
Ole Midvale late night glidin
asphalt rivers
Held at a stop light smilin,
Till my soul begins to shiver
Was it the cool breeze, or was it my city
Seemed she had something to tell me
I'm there for her because she's who I confide in
Overlookin the neighborhood I reside in
Swearin I'll rep these streets till I'm dyin
Flyin down state street, tryin to shake sleep
Cause its a full moon
An I got new shoes
Because the running god expects me to
My mind consumed with confusion
Who's been abusing Fort Union
Headed south towards grandma's place
Though lost in thought, my body strays
Coming to my senses on the Jordan River Parkway
Current location not an issue
Final destination Fort U.
Heavy breathing tells me its time to return
High speeds had caused my lungs to burn
So I race the sun through Midvale's backstreets
Careful to save energy for that afternoons
kilometer repeats
By the time the sun sneaks over Wasatch peaks
A runner's deep asleep, full of peace
In a blue house on three-fifty east.
