Wanna Jam?

Setting: School Library. Mike is at a table with a Calculus book open. Peter approaches the table. When he talks he speaks fast and has kind of a nervous, high pitched voice.

Peter:     Hi Mike, remember me?

Mike:     Looks up from book. umm . . . yeah.

P:       Yeah, you said you would call me sometime after you talked to your friend.

M:     Yeah.

P:       Did you talk to him cause I've been practicing? I can jam real good now.

M:     umm . . . I haven't really seen him around.

P:       I thought you worked with him.

M:     I do. I haven't had the chance. It has been busy.

P:       Ok. Do you work today?

M:     I might.

P:       Will he be there?

M:     Nervously. umm . . . I'm not sure.

P:       If he is there can you ask cause I've been practicing a lot and I've been playing with my friends and we are getting good and remember you said you needed a keyboardist and maybe I can come over sometime.

M:     Maybe, I'll try and ask him tonight at work.

P:       Ok, ok. umm . . . Maybe I could stop up there tonight. What time are you going to ask him?

M:     Actually, I don't think I work tonight.

P:       Oh . . . well then do you want to jam tonight?

M:     umm . . .

P:       Yeah cause I'm real good now.

M:     I think I was supposed to help move some stuff for a friend.

P:       Oh, how long will that take?

M:     I'm not sure.

P:       Maybe I could help and I could bring my keyboard and after we could jam.

M:     I don't think he wants that many people over at his house. He probably has enough help.

P:       Really?

M:     Yeah. Looking at watch. I should probably get going.

P:       Ok, do you think you will talk to your friend tomorrow?

M:     umm, I don't know.

P:       Do you want to jam tomorrow?

M:     I have a big test on Friday.

P:       What class?

M:     I think Calc.

P:       Doesn't sound too fun.

M:     I guess not.

P:       How about Friday?

M:     What?

P:       We could jam on Friday.

M:     Oh, I think that friend of mine works.

P:       We could just jam and play some stuff.

M:     My friend said he would like to be with us when we jam.

P:       I thought you haven't talked to him.

M:     Yeah, I didn't. I just think it would sound better if we were all there.

P:       Oh, ok. How about next week?

M:     Maybe, I'll have to see what's going on next week. I think I might have another test.

P:       Yeah, me too.

M:     Ok, I guess I'll see you later.

P:       So where are you going?

M:     I have to get something to eat.

P:       Are you done with your classes?

M:     I have one more.

P:       Me too.

M:     Ok.

P:       What class is it?

M:     umm . . . English.

P:       I took that last year. Who do you have?

M:     Jones, ok, I gotta go.

P:       Ok, so maybe next week.

M:     Sure. Whatever.

P:       You wanna call me?

M:     If we do something I guess I can try and call.

P:       Ok, here's my phone number and address. Do you want my e-mail address?

M:     Heh, that ought to be fine.

P:       So, we can jam next week?

M:     Maybe, I might have to work a lot next week.

P:       Ok.

M:     I'll talk to you later.

P:       You want me to stop in to work later?

M:     Doesn't matter. Bye.
