Cat’s Meow

Beach sand glistens wetly-
     ocean’s tongue,
a cat in disguise.

Gently, licking clean her salt sequined coat-
       my thoughtless footprints scattered,
            rubbing her fur the wrong way.

She eases each hair back in place
erasing all trace of me-
tracks vaporized
      and long forgotten.
