Editor's Note

Many demolitions are actually renovations.

I don't quite have the stuff to be an editor yet. I feel bad each time I send out a rejection letter. I'm sure it will give me a sadistic pleasure one day, but for now, it's the toughest part of this job. Poetry is a personal thing, after all. Rejecting a poem is like rejecting a person. Sure, some may have ridiculous rhymes, use obscene language for shock value, tell jokes that aren't funny, and use exclusively pedestrian language, but enough about me. Behind each poem is a person who took the time to write it. This issue we've rejected more submissions than ever. I know as well as anybody how much it hurts to be rejected, which is why I had my co-editor send out the rejections this time around.

Anyway, I've been looking around the internet at our fellow literary magazines. I've noticed a large number of them number their issues like "Volumn IV Issue II" or something. I know what you're thinking, a magazine like Megaera, which not only has a coat of arms, but also a Latin motto, is surely pretentious enough to use an issue numbering system like this. Why call this Issue 7, when we could call it Volumn III Issue III? Well, because we don't want to associate ourselves with those stuffy academic types. We're just a couple of guys who like the fact that we're registered with the Library of Congress. Sure, you could probably register your grocery list with them, but it still sounds cool.
